The qualities of Venus, planet of love, creativity, passion and money manifest themselves differently depending on its sign and house placement in a chart.

Well-known is the association of Venus with the Goddess of Love. In both the Greek and Hindu myths, Venus is borne out of the sea, becoming legendary as the bountiful giver of life’s pleasures. In the horoscope, Venus rules over the sign Taurus and can be related to Mother Earth. The glyph for this planet, the circle over the cross of matter, is a commonly used symbol for the female gender.

Taurus and Libra

Taureans and Librans will find full expression of their strong Venus-like qualities through their kindness and humanitarian merits and through their appreciation of beauty, music, the arts and the good things in life. Even so, in the negative sense of the planet Venus, some may recognise such traits as laziness, over-indulgence or even over-dependence on others, as some of the features of these Venus-ruled signs!

Venus energy works on areas such as love and creativity, and the following gives a general idea of how this planet works with the different associations of the Houses, depending on which sector it falls in the astrological chart.

1st House

Brings Venus-like characteristics out to the full in the overall personality by emphasising charm, good looks and amiability, although a fondness for over-indulgence could cause laziness!
