Capricorns are the high achievers of the zodiac. Michelle Obama is a perfect example of her astrological sign.
Capricorn is the sign of the Goat, but it is wise to consider the variations of these animals. In the language of astrology, there are two types. The Sea GoatIn ancient times, long before the domestication of cattle, it was the goat, tethered to a tree or held in a pen, that provided milk for humankind. Goats were raised for wool and meat and their productivity was crucial for the survival of families. They had their function and their boundaries; they were nothing if not useful. This representation of the goat is found in Capricorns as they are steadfastly loyal to their families. The combined responsibilities of rocking the cradle bringing home the bacon may appear to be burdensome to some, but it’s Capricorn’s stock in trade. The sea goat possesses the riches of the sea and earth and disperses, manages and markets its endless resources for the benefit of others. When President Obama refers to Michelle as “The rock of the family,” he’s saying more than he knows. Michelle is a full time hands-on mom, insisting on eating dinner with her two daughters once a week while tirelessly campaigning. A devoted daughter herself, she moved her mother into the White House to care for her daughters while she travels with her husband. The Mountain GoatMountain goats are clear-eyed climbers aiming for the top. Responsible, ambitious and capable, they outdo their peers to get the job, the promotion, and the prestige they seek for their inbred sense of status. Obstacles are overcome and used as stepping stones. Taking Care of Business" is their credo and, eventually, their mission is accomplished. Michelle Obama is the embodiment of all of these characteristics. As a mountain goat, she skipped second grade, was in gifted classes, and commuted three hours each way to Chicago’s first magnet high school where she was an honor student and class salutatorian. After graduating Princeton University with honors, she earned a doctorate in law from Harvard. The First Lady's first career was in the public sector of government in Chicago, where she was assistant to the mayor, and assistant commissioner of planning and development. She then served as executive director for the Chicago Office of Public Allies, associate dean of student services at the University of Chicago, then as executive director of community affairs at the University of Chicago Hospital. First Lady Michelle Obama After the first one hundred days, First Lady Michelle Obama has proven even more popular than her husband. An April 2009 poll by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found that 76 percent of Americans view Michelle Obama favorably, up 8 points from 68 percent in January. Robert Watson, the director of American Studies at Florida's Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, said, "I think she's being slow, steady, smart, prudent and cautious.” This is a perfect description of a classic Capricorn. Michelle Obama will maintain her exalted position with poise and aplomb. And, true to form, she’ll achieve her goal.
