What makes a writer, musician or poet? There are many ways creativity is revealed in a birth chart including the 1st, 5th and 12th houses, the Sun, Moon and Venus.

Without creativity there would be no art, music, poetry or fiction. Creativity can help in problem-solving and envisaging future goals.

A glance at the planetary positions and aspects in a birth chart can give a good impression of a person’s potential to use this visual process and in which areas he may benefit most through creative visualisation.

Mercury and Venus

Venus, if found in the 3rd house or in Pisces, may show an artistic, poetic or musical leaning; an enjoyment of composing music or romantic poems. Venus in Leo can show a strong sense of drama; Venus in the 12th house suggests artistic inspiration directly from the subconscious. Mercury in the 12th house is indicative of mental images coming from the subconscious. Mercury and/or Venus in the 5th house is indicative of immensely creative and mystical qualities.

Jupiter

Jupiter in Leo opens the mind up to creativity. Jupiter in the 12th house might show possible inclination towards inner spiritual searching through meditation. Jupiter's links with the Sun can be indicative of creative skills, Jupiter close to Pluto will suggest a desire to explore mystical realms.

Uranus

The technique of visualisation is encouraged through many occult and mystical interests and other chart indications which may show understanding in this direction could be: Uranus in the 8th or 9th houses, bringing occult religious or telepathic interests and Uranus in the 12th house, which may indicate more interest in yoga or meditation.

Neptune

Neptune in this area of the chart also favours times of seclusion for inner-searching while in the 3rd house could indicate an aptitude for writing about the occult.

Neptune also gives an idea of the areas in life where one can show marked intuitive awareness for instance in the 3rd house this could be in imagery and writing, in the 9th house through philosophy and meditation or in the10th house through the career. When rising, Neptune can indicate an intuitive awareness of the surrounding environment.

Planetary Aspects

The Sun sextile Uranus may show an intuitive type guidance in astrological studies whilst its sextile to Neptune brings vivid mental imagery which encourages writing, art or musical endeavours.

The Moon, ruler of the subconscious sextile Uranus can show an unusual and quite unique imagination, whilst sextile Pluto will suggest the ability to make constructive use of imagination.

Mercury and Venus is good aspect to Uranus or Neptune are other indicators of artistic and creative abilities.

Inspiration

Whether the source of inspiration comes from the subconscious or indeed from a more psychic world, research has shown that those who make fuller use of these day-dream faculties, and those who are able to vividly recall their night time dreams, tend to show stronger talent in artistic/creative or musical work.

A Positive Step

Being aware of the potentials as indicated in a birth chart and of current progressed and transiting aspects which favour introspection and visualisation will be a positive step towards making use of this remarkable inner source which everyone, to a certain degree, has at their disposal.
