Astrology – Moon in Libra

Personality Traits Associated with the Lunar Sign of the Scales

Nov 16, 2009 Jennifer Copley

Courteous and diplomatic, the lunar Libra is a pleasant companion who seeks peace and harmony, and avoids conflict.

Moon-in-Libra people are usually charming, refined, tactful, and graceful. A well-developed mind, combined with a peaceful temperament, makes them intellectually stimulating and agreeable company, so it is no surprise that lunar Libras are often sought out for companionship, particularly by the opposite sex.

Moon-in-Libra People Crave Peace and Harmony

Gentle Moon-in-Libra people seek out all that is harmonious and aesthetically pleasing. Unable to tolerate strife or vulgarity, they are inclined to avoid or escape from any situation where discord is likely.

Some lunar Libras engage in deception to avoid giving offense, hurting feelings, and causing unpleasant scenes. They are inclined to take the path of least resistance and tell people what they want to hear rather than confronting a problem head-on, and they will go to great lengths to dodge controversial issues, vacillating when asked to give their opinions on contentious matters.

On the positive side, this means they are less likely to cause others emotional harm or lose friends and lovers through careless or impetuous speech. However, the flip-side of this trait is that they may not be entirely forthright with those closest to them, and even serious issues tend to be avoided rather than addressed.

Lunar Libras Seek Partnerships

Libra is the sign of partnership, and the lunar Libra requires a domestic partner to feel complete. Moon-in-Libra people usually don’t like to be alone, even when engaging in the most mundane of activities. As a result, they are inclined jump into relationships without really getting to know the other person, and to hang on too long to relationships that aren’t working.

Idealistic, easy going, tolerant, and emotionally adaptable, lunar Libras can get along well with most people. However, if a moon-in-Libra person has chosen a lover who is argumentative and confrontational, the domineering partner will likely spend a significant amount of time provoking him in an attempt to get a reaction or force things out into the open. Such attempts are usually unsuccessful, as lunar Libras are good at evading conflict, but this provoke-evade dynamic can make for a volatile relationship.

Moon-in-Libra people are usually anxious about committing themselves to any particular course of action, so they do best with strong, decisive partners, and they are drawn to such types. However, in some cases they mistake an overbearing nature for a strong character, and thus find themselves tied to individuals with bullying personalities.

Libra-Moon People Are Rational and Fair-Minded

Open-minded and rational, Libra-moon people listen calmly and attentively to the opinions and problems of others. While receptive, sympathetic, and able to say all the right things to make other people feel better, they are not inclined to offer practical assistance unless the sun or ascendant are in a more pragmatic sign or impulsive sign.

Lunar Librans build bridges, soothe troubled waters, and act as mediators in other people’s arguments. They hate taking sides because they are usually able to see both perspectives in a conflict, which can frustrate those who demand complete, unquestioning loyalty. However, this trait ensures that lunar Libras tend to be fair-minded not only when it comes to judging others, but also in identifying their own mistakes and shortcomings. They are even likely to possess the rare gift of being able to identify the positive traits of those they intensely dislike.

The only times in which Libra-moon people inclined to act irrationally is when they are seeking the approval of other people. Their overwhelming desire to please can cause them to suppress their own needs so as not to upset others, and to lie about their feelings (even to themselves), if expressing those feelings could generate conflict. This craving for acceptance also makes lunar Libras excessively susceptible to flattery, which can blind them to the negative traits or even bad intentions of those who offer compliments.

The Libra Moon Is Associated with Pleasure and Beauty

The finely tuned aesthetic sense that lunar Libras possess suits them to artistic pursuits and performance arts. A talent for music, poetry, or poetic prose is common, though their physical grace may also favour athletic pursuits. However, these talents aren’t always put to good use, as initiative may be lacking, unless the sun or ascendant fall in a more active sign.

The love of all things beautiful, pleasurable, and harmonious can have positive or negative effects on the personality. The negative expression of the Libra moon is a frivolous, dependent, self-indulgent lifestyle. The negative lunar Libra is easily influenced, unable to say “no,” to anyone, and generally lazy.

The positive expression of the Libra moon, by contrast, emphasizes the aspects of the persona that seek fairness, peace, and happiness for all, leading the individual to reject prejudices and use her diplomatic skills to resolve conflicts. The positive lunar Libra works to create a more just world, either personally or professionally, or creates things that bring pleasure to others.
